Best Epipen Case? Are you Kidding Me!

The best epipen carrying case is the one that helps keep the life saving epinephrine auto injectors at an arm length away at all times. A single carrier or case, even if it's considered "the best one" will not always do the job.

If you are reading this, I know what you are going through.

MY CHILD HAS FOOD ALLERGIES
You are a mom desperately looking for a way to keep your food allergic child safer.  It seems like no one really knows what he/she is allergic too.

I WAIT UNTIL EVERYONE IS SLEEPING
At night is when I can be myself. I feel, and I know, that everyone is talking behind my back saying that I need help and worst of all...

  • my best friends + my family + and my better half keeps telling me that I need to relax and stop acting crazy.
  • I keep searching and googling for answers and help. I  "Google" for everything related to food allergies including information about epipen.

TRYING TO TEACH SOMEONE HOW TO USE THE EPIPEN
epipen use children carry The minute I pull out the Epipen trainner and and I try to explain how to use it they just stare at me and try to change the subject. Even my better half seem to always respond with "Please Relax, nothing is going to happen".

BEST EPIPEN CASE

Every time I gave the Epipen to a teacher, a coach or even my parents inside a "red bag" or "zip lock bag"  they just threw it on a table or even worst inside the first drawer they saw. So I got one of the free cases  epipen gives away. The worst was when I gave it to a coach and he just threw it in a cooler then my mom went and put it in the refrigerator, and my better half threw it inside the glove compartment of the car.  This is what trigger my "I GOT TO FIND THE BEST EPIPEN CASE"

THE GOOD AND NOT SO GOOD ABOUT EPIPEN CASES
I bought, and continue to buy everything I can find that will work to carry the injectors to make sure they are never left behind.

The not so good:
There is not a single epipen case or carrier that every caregiver, teacher or coach will like.
There is not a single epipen case or carrier that the child, teen, or adult with food allergies will always love.

The good
Clothing, cases, and accessories that work
    • Cargo Pants are good when fashion is not an issue. The challenge is to find a pair with the pockets big enough to hold them.
    • WaistPal by  Omaxcare.com is great for when they start middle school and the "fanny Pack" is ridiculous.

    • LegBuddy is for when they are wearing a suit or simply don't want to wear anything that makes their "waist" look larger.
    • Not as reliable because they can easily be misplaced, but holster cases are better than bags.  One that you can clip on the clothing you are wearing are the best.
    • Cross body slings and small bags that don't have big signs that makes the person feel like they are walking with a big billboard that says "I am a sick person" will work for going to the movies and short outings.

Epipen prescription

If a doctor gave you a #prescription for an #Epipen  it means you could have a severe #anaphylaxis reaction. Don't let a minute more go by if you haven't fulfill your prescription and start carrying the epinephrine auto-injectors ON you at all times.

Symptoms of an allergic reaction can quickly escalate and become severe in minutes. Follow your instincts. The minute you start asking, “should I use the epi pen” it probably means you need to use it.

How do you know if it's just a small reaction or one that could become fatal are different for everyone. There are many symptoms and each time it could be different. You may feel that your lips and or face are swelling, shortness of breath, burning sensation, or simply having hives. Any symptoms that make you feel like something is wrong means that you should just inject the Epinephrine and call 911. If you have been diagnosed with anaphylaxis allergies, don't just take an antihistamine and wait to see if it helps. Use the epi's "Better to be safe than sorry".

use epipen case holder at all timesThere is no room for hesitation! The key to saving a life from an anaphylactic reaction is using the epi pen immediately.  By the time a food allergic reaction shows symptoms that are severe, it might be too late. Always call 911 and seek medical attention after injecting the Epipen. Not because the Epinephrine could harm you but an injection  could help control anaphylaxis allergic reactions from escalating but might not be able to completely stop it. Also, symptoms could come back within minutes or hours after they seem to be disappearing.

As many doctors and people that suffer from anaphylaxis food allergies will say:
Using the Epipen if you don’t need it won’t hurt you, but not using it if you need it could really put your life at risk.

Today, having an #Epipen in every classroom is the law in most states. Food allergies are now included in the #American Disability Act. All but 5 USA states have approved the self carry epinephrine law. Non of these new procedures and laws would be in place if the risk of using an Epipen was higher than NOT using it.
